What is CEEC?
The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) is a corporate body
established through the enactment of the Citizens Economic Empowerment
(CEE) Act No. 9 of 2006 to foster broad-based economic empowerment. Broadbased
economic empowerment is defined in the Act as 'the economic
empowerment of targeted citizens, citizen influenced companies, citizen
empowered companies and citizen owned companies through diverse but
integrated socio-economic strategies that include ownership of productive
assets and resources, increasing the levels of employment in the formal sector,
increasing household incomes, expanding literacy and skills development, and
ensuring preferential procurement and access to services of state institutions.
